Overview

The Problem-Solving & Implementation SJT is a situational judgment task designed to assess faculty members' capacity to plan pedagogical changes, execute those plans effectively, and monitor their impact on student learning. This measure was administered pre/post in the December PPCS Implement Session.

Skills Assessed:

• Planning: Designing actionable steps for pedagogical implementation
• Executing: Carrying out teaching innovations effectively
• Monitoring: Tracking and adjusting based on evidence of impact
• Analysis & Evaluation: Interpreting student outcome data

Scenario 1: Implementing a New Assessment Strategy

Context: You want to replace traditional exams in your Marketing Strategy course with portfolio-based assessment to better capture holistic skill development. You have one semester to implement this change and need to demonstrate its effectiveness for curriculum review.

Response Options (participants rank best to worst):

A. Design the full portfolio structure, announce it to students on day one, and collect portfolios at semester end for evaluation.

• Score: 2 (Plans and executes, but minimal monitoring)

B. Pilot one portfolio component mid-semester, gather student feedback, analyze completion quality, then decide whether to expand.

• Score: 3 (Strong planning, execution, and monitoring with iterative approach)
