Overview

What it measures: Skills for building and sustaining communities of practice—perspective-taking, empathic concern, intellectual humility, adaptability, and collaborative problem-solving in faculty learning communities.

When to use: Pre/post assessment in professional development programs emphasizing collaboration, peer learning, faculty learning communities, or networked improvement communities.

Completion time: 6-10 minutes (2-3 scenarios)

Each scenario presents:

  1. A community-building dilemma: Realistic challenges in forming or sustaining peer learning communities
  2. Open-ended prompt: "What would you do?" (1-2 sentence response)
  3. Ranking or multiple-choice task: Evaluate or rank response options
